Master plan for a premier Mediterranean marina and mixed-use urban village

Porto Montenegro is the new premier Mediterranean destination for mega-yachts and offers all of the direct and spin-off services that a marina of this scale can generate. The site was an underused naval facility with some marine industrial uses. In order to establish a preeminent home port for yachts, a number of considerations were strategically addressed that cater to the owners, captains, crew, and tourists creating a vertically integrated infrastructure and support system. This strategy guided the master planning process - maximizing the attractiveness of Porto Montenegro as both a super yacht home port and tourist destination - in a manner that also optimizes economic and employment spin-offs for Montenegrins.

Brook McIlroy prepared the master plan and obtained all government approvals to facilitate the first phase build-out as well as design for several Phase 1 buildings. The project opened in 2012.
